President Joe Biden’s dog, Commander, has been taken off the White House campus after a series of biting incidents involving White House staff and U.S. Secret Service officers, according to a spokesperson for first lady Jill Biden. Elizabeth Alexander, the first lady’s communications director, stated that the safety of the White House staff and those who protect them is a top priority for the President and his wife. The Biden family is working on finding a solution to prevent further incidents. Commander, a 2-year-old German shepherd, has been temporarily relocated, but the specific location was not disclosed. This update followed an allegation that Commander had bitten a White House staffer, which was addressed by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre during her briefing.

In response to the allegation, Jean-Pierre directed questions to the first lady’s office. The office clarified that Commander was playing with Dale Haney, the head groundskeeper at the White House, and no skin was broken in the incident. The tourist who witnessed the incident took a photo, which was then shared with a news organization and published online.
