Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has announced that the state has sent two cargo planes of critically needed supplies to Israel. This comes after DeSantis helped secure a flight to Tampa International Airport for 270 Americans stranded in Israel following a deadly terrorist attack by Hamas. DeSantis stated that Florida is stepping up to help their allies in Israel, as they are in need of supplies and support.
As part of the ongoing efforts, Florida is also sending necessary healthcare supplies to Israel to care for those injured in the conflict. Two cargo flights loaded with 85 pallets of donated supplies are on their way to Israel. Governor DeSantis reiterated the state’s support for Israel and stated that they will continue to assist in any way they can as Israel defends itself against Hamas terrorists.
In addition to supporting Israel, Governor DeSantis criticized the Biden administration’s plan to develop an aid plan for civilians in the Gaza Strip. He expressed concern that the humanitarian aid may be commandeered by Hamas terrorists instead of reaching those in need. DeSantis called on President Biden to work with Israel to free all American and Israeli hostages, rather than providing aid to Hamas.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken addressed these concerns by stating that if Hamas seizes or blocks the supplies, the United States will condemn it and work to prevent it from happening again.
The Florida Division of Emergency Management coordinated the delivery of the donated items, which include medical supplies, clothing, hygiene products, sleeping bags, and children’s toys. The state worked closely with the Israeli Consulate, medical organizations, and hospitals to ensure that the most needed items are provided efficiently.
The cargo planes were loaded and departed with the presence of Israeli Consul General Maor Elbaz-Starinsky. The supplies are expected to arrive in Israel on Wednesday.
