Pritzker Launches National Abortion Advocacy Group Funded by Dark Money

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker is expanding his advocacy for abortion rights beyond the state’s borders. He recently introduced a political organization called “Think Big America” that will fund similar efforts in states outside of Illinois. This comes as the debate over abortion heats up across the country, following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade ruling.

Think Big America has already provided funding for constitutional amendments in support of abortion access in Ohio, Arizona, and Nevada. With 14 states currently banning abortion, the fight to protect reproductive rights is more important than ever.

In a prepared statement, Governor Pritzker expressed his lifelong commitment to protecting and expanding reproductive rights, citing his personal experiences attending abortion-rights rallies as a child. Think Big America aims to ensure the fundamental right to reproductive choice for individuals everywhere, regardless of their location or background.

Think Big America is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, often referred to as a dark money group because it is not required to disclose its donors under federal law. So far, Governor Pritzker is the sole donor, and his contribution has been described as substantial. The organization’s spokesperson, Natalie Edelstein, stated that Pritzker’s donation has covered initial contributions to campaigns in other states.

The board of directors for Think Big America consists of Desiree Rogers, former White House social secretary under President Barack Obama; Chicago State Representative Margaret Croke; and Chicago Alderwoman Michelle Harris.

Abortion access has been a prominent issue for Governor Pritzker, who has been vocal in his support for reproductive rights. In his second term, he signed legislation to strengthen abortion protections and ensure access for patients from other states where abortions are prohibited or restricted.

While abortion advocacy is a key focus for Pritzker, it is not the only issue he is passionate about. He has been an active supporter of progressive causes and Democrats across the country, leading to speculation about potential presidential ambitions.

Pritzker’s nascent campaign with Think Big America aims to combat right-wing extremism on all fronts, not just abortion. The goal is to protect and expand human, civil, and reproductive rights for all individuals.

Desiree Rogers, a member of Think Big America’s board, expressed her support for Governor Pritzker’s commitment to expanding rights and freedoms. She emphasized the importance of everyone getting involved in the fight for equal rights.
