Former President Donald Trump criticized the New York judge, Judge Arthur Engoron, who ordered his daughter Ivanka Trump to testify against the Trump family. Trump called the judge “unhinged” and accused him of being “crazed in his hatred” of the ex-president.
Judge Engoron ruled that Ivanka Trump must testify against her father and brothers in a case that alleges the manipulation of financial statements by the former president and his business to gain favorable terms on insurance and loans.
Trump expressed his frustration with the order, arguing that his daughter was already dismissed as a defendant in the case back in June. He called Judge Engoron an “out of control ‘nut job'” and demanded the case be dismissed, stating that it should have never started in the first place.
New York Attorney General Letitia James brought the lawsuit against Mr. Trump, emphasizing that Ivanka Trump remains “financially and professionally intertwined with the Trump Organization.” The Attorney General’s office believes she has “personal knowledge” of the facts related to the charges against her father and brothers.
The trial has been ongoing for a month and has included testimonies from former accountants and the former Trump fixer, Michael Cohen. Donald Trump is expected to testify on November 6.
Trump’s criticism of Judge Engoron, Attorney General James, and court staff has resulted in a gag order being imposed on him. However, Trump has violated the order twice, resulting in a $10,000 fine for posting a photo of one of the judge’s law clerks next to Senate Majority Leader Charles S. Schumer, falsely claiming that the clerk was Schumer’s “girlfriend.”
