Max Scherzer, the three-time Cy Young Award winner, is determined to make his start in Game 3 of the World Series, despite a cut on his pitching thumb. The injury occurred when he returned from a five-week layoff due to a strained muscle in his right shoulder. Scherzer has found a way to protect his thumb with cotton and Super Glue, and he assures that it won’t be an issue when he takes the mound for the Texas Rangers.

The Diamondbacks will have rookie Brandon Pfaadt as their starting pitcher. After losing the first game of the series, they bounced back with a 9-1 victory in Game 2.

Scherzer, a 39-year-old right-hander, was traded to the Texas Rangers from the New York Mets in July. He had a solid performance during the regular season with a 4-2 record and a 3.20 ERA. However, he injured his shoulder in September and struggled in the AL Championship Series against the Houston Astros.

Despite the injury, Scherzer is confident in his ability to throw fastballs at full strength. The main concern is how many pitches he can handle in a start.

On the other hand, Pfaadt, a 25-year-old right-hander, made his major league debut earlier this year. Although he had a rough start, he has shown improvement and finished the season with a 3-9 record and a 5.72 ERA. Pfaadt has performed well in the postseason, with a 2.70 ERA in four starts.

Both pitchers are determined to lead their teams to victory in the World Series. Scherzer expressed his excitement about another opportunity to live out his dream, while Pfaadt shared his growing interest in sports, including fantasy football.

As the series continues, the Rangers and the Diamondbacks will rely on their pitchers to deliver strong performances and give their teams a chance to win.

In Game 2, Mitch Garver of the Rangers hit a home run on a sinker that was just 17.5 inches above the ground, the lowest pitch he homered on this year.
