Rangers Take 3-1 World Series Lead Thanks to Semien’s 5 RBIs and Seager’s Home Run in 11-7 Win Over Diamondbacks

Marcus Semien had a big night at the plate, driving in 5 runs with a triple and a home run, while Corey Seager added another homer, as the Texas Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 11-7 in Game 4 of the World Series. With this win, the Rangers now lead the series 3-1.
The Rangers had a dominant start to the game, scoring 10 runs in the first three innings. This marked the first time in World Series history that a team had consecutive five-run innings. Seager’s two-run homer in the second inning and Semien’s three-run homer in the third inning were the highlights of the offensive onslaught. Jonah Heim also contributed with a home run in the eighth inning.
Texas has been unstoppable on the road this postseason, boasting a perfect 10-0 record. They are now just one win away from securing their first ever World Series title in the 63-season history of the franchise.
The Rangers will have the opportunity to close out the series in Game 5, with Nathan Eovaldi starting for Texas and Zac Gallen on the mound for the Diamondbacks. History favors the Rangers, as 42 out of 49 teams that have taken a 3-1 lead in the World Series have gone on to win it all. The most recent team to overcome a 3-1 deficit was the Chicago Cubs in 2016 against the Cleveland Indians.
Texas capitalized on the Diamondbacks’ pitching struggles, scoring their first 10 runs with two outs. The Arizona staff needed four pitchers to get their first eight outs, and a wild pitch and an error led to five unearned runs in the third inning.
Both Seager and Semien, who were signed as free agents before the 2022 season, have been outstanding in the World Series. They each have six RBIs so far. Seager, in particular, has been impressive with his power hitting, becoming the first shortstop to hit three home runs in a World Series. He has a total of four home runs in his last five games, dating back to the AL Championship Series. If he continues this performance, Seager has a chance to join the elite group of players who have been named World Series MVP twice.
Other notable contributions in the game include Travis Jankowski’s two-run double in the third inning and Andrew Heaney’s solid pitching performance, allowing just four hits in five innings. The Rangers’ bullpen also did their part, with six relievers closing out the game.
The Diamondbacks managed to score a few runs, with Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hitting a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning and a three-run homer in the eighth against Chris Stratton. Tommy Pham also had a sacrifice fly in the eighth, and Gabriel Moreno drove in two runs with a single in the ninth.
Despite the loss, there was a festive atmosphere at Chase Field, with fans in Halloween costumes. However, some fans started booing in the second inning as the Diamondbacks struggled.
With both teams lacking starting pitching options, Game 4 turned into a bullpen game. This was seen as a strategic battle between the managers, but Arizona’s gambit did not pay off in this game.
The next game will be crucial for both teams, as the Rangers look to clinch the series and the Diamondbacks fight to stay alive. Stay tuned for an exciting Game 5!
