Actor Robert De Niro testified in a New York courtroom, expressing his anger towards his former executive assistant and vice president, Graham Chase Robinson. Robinson is seeking millions of dollars in damages, accusing De Niro of being abusive.
During the court proceedings, Robinson’s lawyers presented allegations of De Niro’s behavior towards her during her time as his assistant from 2008 to 2019. She claims that the emotional distress and reputational harm caused by De Niro have left her unable to find employment or recover from the trauma.
Robinson is seeking $12 million in damages for her suffering. She had been earning an annual salary of $300,000 before quitting due to frustrations with De Niro’s girlfriend and their impact on him.
In addition to the lawsuit filed by Robinson, the jury is also considering De Niro’s lawsuit against her, claiming that she stole items from him, including 5 million points for airline flights. De Niro is seeking the return of three years’ worth of Robinson’s salary.
During the testimony, De Niro denied the accusations made against him. When asked if he urinated while speaking to Robinson on the phone, he dismissed it as nonsense. He also denied calling her derogatory names to her face, although he admitted that he might have used such language in conversations with her.
De Niro also addressed a claim that he preferred Robinson to scratch his back instead of using a back scratching device. He stated that while it might have happened once or twice, it was never done with disrespect or lewdness.
Expressing his frustration, De Niro shouted “Shame on you, Chase Robinson!” towards his ex-assistant. However, he quickly apologized in a quieter voice, directed towards the judge.
Robert De Niro, 80, is a highly acclaimed actor with two Oscars to his name. He has had a successful six-decade career, starring in movies such as “The Deer Hunter” and “Raging Bull.” Currently, he is working on Martin Scorsese’s film “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
