Georgetown Defeats Le Moyne in Ed Cooley’s First Game as Hoyas Coach

In Ed Cooley’s debut as coach of the Hoyas, Georgetown secured a decisive 94-57 victory over Le Moyne. Supreme Cook contributed 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Dontrez Styles added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Cooley, who was previously with Big East rival Providence, is determined to revamp Georgetown’s program after the team struggled in the past two seasons under Patrick Ewing.

Reflecting on his debut, Cooley expressed his emotional journey from the Thompson Center to the game and the anxiety leading up to it. Supreme Cook, who joined Georgetown from Fairfield, made a significant impact during the game, scoring 8 out of 9 shots. Similarly, Jay Heath also played a pivotal role, scoring 15 points for the Hoyas. The team’s overall performance on the court displayed their strength and determination.

Georgetown’s strong start allowed them to establish an early 20-7 lead and further extend it to 47-23 by halftime.

Le Moyne, playing their first game as a Division I school, were led in scoring by Kaiyem Cleary, who finished with 11 points.

Looking ahead, Georgetown is set to play Holy Cross at home on Saturday, while Le Moyne will visit No. 22 Villanova on Friday.
