A woman from Hawaii has been ordered to compensate American Airlines with nearly $39,000 for interfering with a flight crew on a flight last year, as per authorities.

On Tuesday, federal prosecutors announced that 29-year-old Cayla Farris was sentenced to over three months of time served in connection with her actions and three years of supervised probation.

A U.S. District judge stated that Farris must get approval before boarding an aircraft while on probation.

According to reports, Farris was on a flight from Phoenix to Honolulu on February 13, 2022 when she began using profanity and making threats towards the flight crew and other passengers.

The captain decided to turn the aircraft back and landed at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport due to Farris’ behavior, which prevented the crew from carrying out their duties.

In September, Farris pleaded guilty to interfering with a flight crew member. The judge ordered her to pay $38,952 in restitution to American Airlines for delay-related costs.
