Las Vegas Grand Prix officials tried to make up for the disappointment and frustration felt by Formula One fans by offering a $200 discount at the official gift shop for those with single-event tickets. However, this gesture doesn’t apply to the majority of fans who purchased three-day passes.
There are a few ways to take advantage of the $200 offered. However, it doesn’t cover the Nevada sales tax, so fans need to consider this when making their purchases. The merchandise tent is divided into more expensive team merchandise on the right side and more affordable Las Vegas Grand Prix items on the left.
To make the $200 go the furthest, fans can consider purchasing items from the left side, such as a $40 cap, a $60 long-sleeved T-shirt, a $42 T-shirt, and a $35 beanie, with $23 left over to cover the sales tax.
Race officials tried to make amends after a rough start to the much-anticipated Formula One race on the Las Vegas Strip. The first practice session was cut short due to Carlos Sainz Jr. damaging his Ferrari, which led to a 2 1/2-hour delay for the second session. Fans were left disappointed as they were told to exit the facilities before the second practice, only getting nine minutes of race viewing.
The decision to offer the $200 credit was made to show appreciation and remedy the situation, according to an open letter to fans from race officials.
Meanwhile, a college basketball tournament, the Continental Tire Main Event, in Las Vegas took a jab at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, boasting that their practices started on time.
Saint Mary’s, San Diego State, Xavier, and Washington are competing in the tournament at the nearby T-Mobile Arena.
