Ron DeSantis Raises Concerns About Direction of Biden Impeachment Investigation
December 3, 2023 | by Kaju
Republican presidential contender Ron DeSantis urged House Republicans to proceed with caution in formalizing their impeachment inquiry into President Biden.
The Florida governor warned that taking a formal vote to authorize an inquiry might backfire on Republicans in an election year, as voters want them to focus on other issues.
During an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Mr. DeSantis stated, “I think that the Biden family, the amount of money that’s flowed into that family, to me, is corrupt.”
He added, “So opening an inquiry, based on the facts that we have, I think would be justifiable. However, I think they run the risk of doing an inquiry that doesn’t necessarily lead anywhere while they’ve been ignoring a lot of the problems that our voters are talking about.”
This cautious approach mirrors the sentiments expressed by some Republicans on Capitol Hill, with House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer uncovering questionable and lucrative foreign business deals within the Biden family, but none that directly tie the president to any wrongdoing.
Mr. DeSantis emphasized the importance of addressing other pressing issues, such as border security and the economy, alongside any potential inquiry.
