Senator Rand Paul is questioning the diagnosis made by the U.S. Capitol’s top doctor regarding Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s recent freezing episode. The attending physician, Dr. Brian P. Monahan, attributed the episode to “lightheadedness” and dehydration caused by McConnell’s concussion and subsequent recovery. However, Paul, who is also an ophthalmologist, stated that dehydration is not a valid medical diagnosis based on the videos of McConnell’s episode. After consulting with McConnell’s neurology team and conducting an examination, Dr. Monahan ruled out stroke, seizure, and Parkinson’s disease. Paul has been vocal in his criticism of McConnell’s health and is calling for more transparency regarding the Senate leader’s health problems.
