The National Toy Hall of Fame has announced 12 finalists that are contending to be part of the class of 2023. These toys and games will join the ranks of America’s greatest toys if they are chosen. The winners will be announced on November 9th.
The finalists are:
- Ken, Barbie’s beau
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
- Cabbage Patch Kids
- Baseball cards
- Slime
- Bop It
- Bingo
- Nerf toys
- Battleship
- Choose Your Own Adventure gamebooks
- Connect 4
- Little Tikes Cozy Coupe car
The National Toy Hall of Fame is located at the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York. In its 25 years of existence, 80 toys have been inducted into the hall of fame.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite toys online for a week, starting Wednesday.
The museum evaluates potential inductees based on four criteria: the toy or game’s iconic status, its longevity, its ability to foster learning, creativity, or discovery in children, and its design and appeal.
In 2022, Lite-Brite and the Masters of the Universe action figures were inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame.
