Rep. Rashida Tlaib Criticized for Video Alleging Biden Supports ‘Genocide’ and Accusations of Antisemitism

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat from Michigan, is facing criticism for a video in which she accuses President Biden of supporting Palestinian “genocide” and includes a chant that is seen as a call for Israel’s destruction. The video, released on Friday, goes against Democratic Party protocol by directly attacking Biden while urging him to support a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
The caption at the end of the 90-second video states, “Joe Biden supported the genocide of the Palestinian people. The American people won’t forget. Biden, support a ceasefire now.” The video also includes footage of pro-Palestinian protests where demonstrators chanted “from the river to the sea,” a slogan that implies the end of Israel.
In response to the video, Republican Senator Tim Scott called Tlaib an extension of the propaganda machine of Hamas, while the Republican National Committee called the video “disturbing pro-Hamas propaganda.” Independent Senator Kyrsten Sinema posted a map showing that Israel lies between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, and stated that the slogan “from the river to the sea” means eradicating the state of Israel, showing her view that it is hate speech and antisemitism.
This comes just a day after Tlaib survived a House censure effort over accusations of “antisemitic activity.” Jason Bedrick, a research fellow at the conservative Heritage Foundation, argued that Tlaib’s video only calls for a ceasefire for Israel, while supporting the destruction of Israel through the slogan “from the river to the sea.”
However, Tlaib defended the video, stating that “from the river to the sea” is an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence. She emphasized that her work and advocacy are always centered on justice and dignity for all people, regardless of faith or ethnicity.
The American Jewish Committee considers the slogan “from the river to the sea” to be a common call-to-arms for pro-Palestinian activists, but also a rallying cry for terrorist groups and their sympathizers. It advocates for the establishment of a State of Palestine by erasing the State of Israel and its people.
It is clear that Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s video has sparked controversy and allegations of antisemitism, with critics arguing that her statements and the chant she included in the video promote the destruction of Israel. Tlaib maintains that her intentions were in line with advocating for justice and human rights.
