Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie faced boos and jeers from the audience at the Florida Republican Party’s Freedom Summit on Saturday.
In response, Christie condemned the crowd, stating, “Every one of those boos, cat calls, and yells will not solve a single problem we face in this country. Your anger against the truth is reprehensible.”
He criticized the audience, mostly composed of supporters of former President Donald Trump, for their “pettiness,” stating that such behavior is beneath the process of electing a president.
Christie challenged the attendees to listen to his arguments, saying, “If your arguments are so strong and mine are so bad, then just keep quiet. Let me make my awful arguments, and then you can reject them out of hand.”
He accused the audience of fearing the truth and wanting to silence any opposing voices. However, Christie emphasized that their actions do not bother him.
The former governor shifted the focus to the issue of Israel, stating that the atrocities occurring there should be the central topic of discussion and anger.
Christie called for every presidential candidate to make it clear that the United States stands united with Israel and will combat terrorism worldwide.
The Freedom Summit in Kissimmee featured several other GOP presidential candidates, including Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy, Tim Scott, Doug Burgum, and Asa Hutchinson.
